  1. i would not buy a package deal. i started with one. it sounded ok. sense then i have replaced my whole system. you will get better sound by buying the pieces seprately. and if you shop around not much more money. go with your ear. what sounds good to you is what matters. i can't stand the BOSE systems even though a lot of people like them.

  2. First things first, don't cheap out. Since you've paid good money for a 40 inch plasma, you want to have the highest quality sound and video.

First things first, the Blu Ray player. This is a great choice, because Blu Ray has won the war against High Def. The cheapest Blue Ray player on the market right now is actually inside the Sony Playstation 3. Not only does this give you amazing quality Blu Ray picture, but it allows you to play the latest PS3 games.

The surround sound is a little trickier, because there are so many options. Make sure that the company you choose is reputable (I would reccomend Bose or Harman Kordon Speakers), and that they all are equipped with Dolby Digital Surround Sound.

    Good Luck!

  3. I have been looking for a home theater for a while now. Amazon has great reviews that often answer all your HT questions, and usually really good prices.

For a home theater package that is medium priced, look at Onkyo and Sony. You can get nice HT's for as litle as 400-500, and less if you just get the receiver/speaker/subwoofer packages, but none of those haveBlu Ray players, you'll have to buy that separately. I have not looked into Blu Ray yet as the players are too expensive still, but again, look at the reviews online.

  4. it's expensive
