  1. Where do you store your paper?  I know that sounds like a funny question.  But in my years of working with laser and especially inkjet printers, I've discovered that copy and printer paper absorbs humidity from the air, and that causes it to jam in a printer or a copy machine.

I have had some luck with keeping any open reams of paper in a sealed Tupperware or Rubbermaid container.  It won't take care of all the jamming, but it will take care of some of it.

  2. If we knew what printer model you had and what type of paper you are using, it would be helpful.

I am going to assume you are using a bottom page feeder model (HP, Brother, Kodak, Lexmark or Dell). I assume this because of the papers feed path. If you have a printer with a bottom paper feed, rather than a top (straight) paper feed, it will jam easier, because your paper has to perform a 180 degree turn and while in the process of turning, the paper feeders (holders) may not catch the paper.

Did you have a paper jam? There is probably a little piece of paper caught in the paper path that is stopping the feeders from catching the paper.. Remove the cover (back) and inspect the printer. Remove any debris. If you can not find any debris, try blowing the printer out with compressed air. This may dislodge whatever is stuck in the printer.
