So many fans hate on other teams just for the heck of it or because they feel they are supposed to. Tell me your favorite team, then write a couple sentances POSITIVE about their biggest rival. Most rational, true fan gets BA.

Favorite Team: Rangers

Rival: Devils- The Devils have one of the best goaltenders in NHL history, they play a solid defensive minded style of hockey that has proven effective in the NHL for years. They have a good mix of proven scorers, Elias, Gionta, and Parise, and solid defensive players, Madden, Pandolfo, and White. They play hard and force the oppostition to beat them at their game (lower scoring affairs).

  1. This is going to be hard...

    The Lightning...

Rival:  The Panthers?  Oh boy, sorry Kimmy, I will try to be nice.  They were the Conference Championships once...and that is hard to do.  I bet Olli Jokinen's head is very arodynamic...no hair...not even eyelashes. Even though Nathan Horton's face bugs me, he's an alright player.  Jay Bouwmeester is a pretty good D-man.  That's about all I have.

  2. favorite team: NY RANGERS

Rival: im going to use the penguins since you used the devils... the penguins are a really young team but are showing up a lot of the older guys out there. they deserve to be in the stanley cup finals because of the basic fact that they obviously played better verse montreal..the rangers..and the flyers. As much as i would hate to admit it.. they played solid games against us we had a 3-0 lead in the first game of the second series and penguins ended up winning that game! idk if that luck.. id say its pure talent

  3. favorite team: wings

rival (or just love to hate; i think that the Ducks might be the current rival): Colorado Avalanche (I will only focus on the Colorado portion, except for the first bullet)

    - made a brilliant trade to get rid of Lindros and form the structure to make their bid for 2 cups within 6 years. (I know it was still when they were in Quebec)

    - won 2 cups within 6 years (the 96 being a sweep in the SCF).

    - have/had a significant # of future or current HOF'ers (Roy, Forsberg, Sakic, Sundin(?), Nolan(?), Bourque, Andreychuk(?), Selanne, Kurri, Kariya, Blake on their team within the last 10 years or so.

    - 2 President's Trophies

    - history of great GM'ing w/ trades  and free agency. (selanne, kariya, hannan, smyth, roy, bourque, etc.)

    - are always dangerous. throw regular season records and previous season records out the window.

    - very loyal fans. got a lot of balls too, wearing Avs jerseys to JLA.

    - Sakic is the best captain in the league right now. easily. right up there in the top for all time.

    - Forsberg was stronger than most people realized. and made the entire team look silly, as he skated and passed around them. played a very physical game and forecheck (especially for a Swede. no offense)

    - had a knack for growing young talent (great drafts). (Hedjuk, Stastny, Tanguay, Deadmarsh, Drury). look at these names.

    - 2 Calder Trophy winners (Drury, Forsberg)

    - 2 Hart Trophy winners (Forsberg, Sakic)

    - 2 Conn Smythe trophy winners (Roy, Sakic)

    that's all i can remember

  4. Fav team- Habs

    Biggest rivals Leafs and Bruins

Leafs, they always give their best efforts against Montreal and always provide an entertaining game no matter the two teams place in the standings.

The Bruins always find a way to be competitive when ownership has always been tight with spending and good players have been lost due to spending constraints.  A Bruins team may be outclassed talent wise but they will never be outworked.

  5. I don't actually hate any team. I might not like them but

don't hate  but if i did........

Pittsburgh. last season they had no problem shredding the Flyers yet this year when the Flyers Crushed them all you heard was Therrian crying they ran up the score...same with Lindsy Ruff

i think the Pens are a very talented team.Crosby is ten times tougher than he gets credit for. while he is a Baby still he goes right back at it

mostly i hate People that cry that the Flyers are so dirty yet never look to see how high their own grass has grown

  6. Rangers

Brodeur should probably win the vezina and be considered for the MVP because hes the most valuable player to his team.

  7. Flyers.

The NHL, collectively, is their rival and the nicest thing I can say is that their rivals win championships because the Flyers provide them with the players that get it done.

Now if they can just do it for Philly.....

  8. Fav team - Wings

Rival - Colorado:  They play a much more aggressive game than the Wings.  Also, they have much younger players.  Give them about 2 seasons together, and they are going to be a major contender for the cup.  Their youth will outmatch the Wings aging and tired legs soon.

  9. New Jersey Devils are my favorite team.

Rival: The New York Rangers, even though u used them already.

The rangers of course are one of the original six teams. They have more history in the NHL than any other team in the league. I think that its fantastic the team is still there, with all of the same morals as it began with. The rangers will always be top contenders in the east because of great ownership, and great leadership on the ice. The will always be one of the best teams, and i hope someday the devils can match the amount of history that the rangers have established themselves.....ouch that was kinda tough.

  10. Favorite team- Red Wings

    Rival- Colorado

In a short time, the organization has proven itself to be a winner, and commited to winning. They seek mout players that will immediately have an impact on their club (Smyth, bringing Forsberg back, Roy, etc.)

Also, their uniforms are one of the best in the league.

  11. Detroit Red Wings

    Colorado Avalanche-

    1) Joe Sakic is a real Class act, and is very determined.

    2) They have a strong and Physical Team, and Don't let injuries try and hurt their spirit.

  12. Favorite - Pittsburgh Steelers

Rival - Baltimore Ravens - Why?  Well, they were the only team in many years to approach the steelers with as good a defense as we were putting on the field.  not to mention they won a few division titles during a stretch when we(steelers) were playing well and they kind of "knocked us off". they've never really had a an offense, especially the QB position but managed to stay tough. BUT, i am proud to say the ravens are quickly falling off the map again...but boy do i hate them.  go steelers and go football!

    p.s.  go pens!

  13. Fav....Sens

    Rival... Leafs

The Leafs always make for a good game against the Sens. Their goalie Toskola (sp) is a fantastic goalie and a good starting point for rebuilding the Leafs and getting them back into the playoffs.

  14. Favorite team: New York Rangers

Rival: Islanders (you already did the Devils :D)

They have a young goalie, some good fowards that are capable at doing there job. They have a great prospect in Kyle Okposo and have an average aged team.

  15. favorite team- blues

    rival- red wings

the red wings are a good team and might even win the stanley cup

  16. Favorite: Devils

Rival: Rangers....They have a solid core, strong GM who makes good moves(although it's been a while since the gambles have paid off) One of the top 5 Goalies in the league. The Madison Square Garden is one of the best arenas in the NHL. And they have the largest fan base of any other team in the league. Not to mention the ended up with a few of our teams greats too.

(that hurt to be nice to th NYRs)

  17. Favourite team (Leafs)

    Rivals (Senators)

Ottawa has a veteran captain who is diligent in his own end and is the "Never quit" kind of player. He's a great asset to have for leadership and knowledge of the game. Martin Gerber is a great goalie with marvelous reflexes. Their defense core is solid right down to their third line.

  18. Fav team-Flyers

    Rival-Rags

They have one of the most dynamic scorers in the past 20 years in Jagr,Lundqvist is a stud goalie,Avery is great at getting under your skin and Carol Alt looked amazing watching Gresh in the 80s.

  19. Favourite Team: Leafs

Rival: Canadiens- This storied franchise has won more Stanley Cups than any other. They have a General Manager that any team would die for and a front office that doesn't panic at the slightest sign of trouble. The team has its act together and is able to live out its plans. Much the opposite of my fave.

  20. Great question ( I answered it in baseball already)

I'm not by any means a hockey expert, but I'll give it a shot.

I'm a Blackhawks fan (there will now be a pause for you all to say "I feel your pain".

To me our greatest rival is the Red Wings.

Great franchise for many reasons, but mainly:

    1. Gordie Howe. Greatest scorer of his era, (and any era without Gretzky) but also a real tough SOB who would mix it up if need be as well.

    2. Great sweaters. Not quite the level of the Blackhawks, but a darn close second. (Notice that the character of Cameron in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" wears a Gordie Howe sweater, even though the movie takes place in Chicago.)

    3. Chris Chelios. He's about 6 months older then me, has taken the hits of the NHL for more then half his life, but still keeps coming back for more. If I skated for a minute in an NHL game, I wouldn't be able to get out of bed for a week. (if ever)

    4. The Olympia - was there ever a better place to see hockey then the Old Red Barn? other then the old Chicago Stadium, I don't think so. (Sorry Maple Leaf Gardens and Montreal Forum fans)

    5. The octopus toss - absolute genius for someone to have come up with that idea to represent the 8 wins needed to win the Stanley Cup in those days. Anywhere else, I'd think it was silly, and perhaps even somewhat disgusting, but for some reason there's a certain charm to it when done in Detroit.

  21. Favorite Team : Canes

Rival: I don't think they have a real rivalry, but for the sake of the question I will go with Florida

The Panthers have stocked up on high draft picks like Nathan Horton and Stephen Weiss that have much potential.  Made the best of the bad trade with Vancouver by signing Tomas Vokoun.  Ollie Joikenen consistantly produces offensivly, and Jay Boumeester is a soild young blue-liner.  They will break through and make the playoffs soon.

  22. favorite team = philadelphia flyers

    rival team = pittsburgh penguins

i respect their teams ability to move the puck. they have a lot of powerhouses when most teams only have one  if any. crosby is a very good young player and it scares me for the future with him getting better and better. marc-andre fleury is a brickwall in there most of the time. he makes the saves he needs when its most important. always a challenge!
