do 5.3 truck engines loose coolent to evaporation over time or do you think there might be something else wrong? the truck runs fine it, does not heat up, and i could not find any type of leak on the ground or engine block area of coolent on the ground. thanks for your comments.

  1. I assumed you filled it back up with water.  If you bought this from a lot and have a thirty day warranty, invoke the warranty and have them check it over.  As far as cars loosing water, my villager has lost water from day one, I've continued to fill it up and it doesn't burn oil and keeps on going.

  2. TAKES A WHILE FOR THE COMPUTERS TO SET. MAYBE THEY PUT A NEW BATTERY IN IT AND YOU MAY HAVE TO DRIVE ABOUT 50 MILES.

  3. first of all, top up the coolant if it needs it. could be a bad sensor. the coolant system is a closed system that is pressurised (by the warming of the engine) there should be no leaks or evaporation. hopefully it is a leak, otherwise it could point to something more sinister, cylinder head gasket. this can be confirmed or ruled out at a garage. pressure test the radiator system to find a leak and block test the coolant ( this tests for hydrocarbons and can indicate a head gasket problem)
