Question:

I just bought a JVC GR-D350 DV Camcorder and I cannot get the videos to xfer to my Laptop via the DVcord?

The port on my laptop is the same port as the one on the camera. I have both XP and Vista installed on this laptop and I have a DV cord with the same type on both ends.

  1. You should be able to connect your camcorder, switch it to play and capture the video with Windows Movie Maker.  Vista has had problems with firewire, so XP would be the better choice.  If WMM can't see the camcorder try rebooting with it connected and switched on.  If it still doesn't work, try this:-

    Go into Device Manager (Control Panel / System / Hardware)

    Expand the IEEE1394 Bus host controllers, right click on your  device and uninstall it.  If it's not there to start with, you've got a problem!

    Shut down your PC.

    Connect the camcorder, switch it to play and reboot your PC.  You should see messages coming up as the card and then the camcorder are detected.
