One is how do I get it to operate on phantom power?

the other question is i also just bought the Canon MA-300 Dual XLR adaptor which has a left and right connector. When I plug my mike into the left channel on the adaptor I only get sound in my left earphone, how do I get sound out of both left and right on the earphones.

I know these quations may seem stupid but Im new at all this

thank you

  1. The sennheiser k6 MEE66 takes a one 1.6v AA so you don't need to run external phantom power, (there is a switch on the side of the mic).

Since your running just the one shot gun microphone, you have to go through your camera menu and make sure your sending input in the both Ch1 and Ch2. Then you can monitor both left and right.

  2. you'd need to have stereo sound otherwise it will only be through whatever channel you have it in.

As for phantom power, you'd need a mixer or a camera that allows you to operate a mic off of phantom power, but it would also be a big drain on your camera battery.

  3. Normally, there is a switch on the XLR adapter (one per channel) for turning phantom power on or off. I can't find an appropriate picture of the MA-300 to know if it has these switches... same for the "dual channel" item.

In addition to the phantom power switches, my BeachTek DXA-6 has a switch to select "S"tereo or "M"ono and my juicedLink CX231 has two switches to select Left - center - right for each side giving more flexibility.

Have you tried the right channel? That is more typically the mono-mix plug.

It is possible that the MA300 does not allow for phantom power (low-end BeachTeks don't have that feature), so just put some batteries (a couple of AA, I think) in the mic and don't worry about it... or return the MA300 and get an XLR adapter that we know has phantom power capabilities. They cost more than the MA300... but you may also get the mono-mix audio you want, too.
