I just bought a Toshiba Labtop from Best Buy for $579?

As someone who formerly worked for Geek Squad, I can tell you that a Toshiba laptop comes with TONS of extra stuff on the laptop that you really don't need.  As such, if your local best buy properly optimizes it, it can be worth it.  As for the warranties, it's up to you.  If you do go for a warranty, I'd pick an accidental plan since that covers things like you dropping it or stepping on it or whatnot and your laptop already includes a 1-year factory warranty against defects.  For instance, the average price to replace an LCD screen on a laptop is about $400-500 by itself.  Keep in mind that the warranties do NOT cover software, such as virus infections or data loss.  Also, you only have 14-days to purchase a warranty.  You cannot upgrade or purchase plans later (though you do get the option to renew your warranty towards the end of it).

For a $579 laptop, I would highly recommend the Optimization and at least the 1 year accidental plan. As a current employee and customer at Best Buy, the optimization is one of the things I highly recommend from personal experience. You save time in both booting up your computer as well as shutting it down (also makes your machine more efficient b/c it doesn't have all those trial software running in the background). As for the service plan, honestly the 2 and the 3 year is ok, but for a laptop that cheap it's not worth it. However I would highly recommend at least the 1 year Accidental just because you never know what can possibly happen to that laptop within the first year. I've had a lady break her screen within 10 days of purchasing it, no accidental plan led her to have to spend another $800 on a new laptop.

I would get the cheaper one since it is a new laptop and it will give you time to see if you like what you bought.  You can always upgrade your plan later.
