or what stuff could i buy to make it look cooler/help me catch more fish

Set a really big V-8 engine in the back of it with upside down chrome headers and straight pipes on it.

Of course you'd have to take the engine out when you want to use the boat, but d**n, that'd be a cool looking john boat.

There are a lot of accessories you can ad to your new boat to make it easier to use for fishing.  Folding seats, floor carpeting (deadens sound), fish finder, trolling motor, rod holders, tackle holders, hand held or mounted GPS.

The first thing I would would take a water safety course.  Secondly I would buy a life jacket.

Jon boats do not look cool, cool don't catch fish, experience does. Take a water safety course and learn about seamanship and courtesy.
