  1. He is probably talking about the gear oil in the foot of the engine. The foot is the part behind the propeller. There should be a s***w at the bottom for draining and look on up towards the top for another s***w for adding gear oil.Now if he's talking about engine oil it goes into gas  or in reservoir if its oil injected.

  2. may i suggest you take a course in boating and boats before you get on the water. power squadrons and coastguard have these available. this is not a walk in the park. they also have engine courses. your life may depend on it.

  3. He's talking about the lower transfer case oil.  Usually 90 weight gear lube.  For a 28hp motor, a couple plastic tubes should be plenty.  You don't need any pump.  You remove the s***w near the bottom of the lower unit and there should be another s***w up a little higher...remove it also.  Make sure the motor is down straight.  Snip the top off your 1st tube of lube and insert into the bottom hole and squeeze the lube into the hole.  You won't get it all out of the tube, but you'll get most of it in there.  When done, hold your finger over the hole and get the other tube (top already snipped) and put it in the bottom hole and squeeze until you see oil come out the top s***w hole.  Once you see that, replace the lower s***w and then the top s***w.  You're set for the season.  You should drain in the fall for winterizing because water does get in there and it could freeze and crack your lower unit housing.  As far as oil for the engine goes, I'm almost certain you have to mix 2 cycle oil in your gas tank.  Check for proper ratio, but 50:1 is usually the ratio that runs the best.

  4. like the first guy said...

Lower Gear Case Oil... don't run it without it.....  just go to a marine store, let them know what motor you have and that you need gear case lube... they will know what you need... you will need oil and a hand pump to get it up there, but it is all very cheap...
