I just bought a car on ebay ... now what?

I have the car now, but what are the stuff i have to do to make sure i can go ahead and drive it? Vehicle registration, get a license plate, what else? Can you list it in order? Thanks.

Insurance

title, and tags (need insurance first)

Then have a mechanic check it out, it may be unsafe to drive.

Vehicle registration,licensing,make sure you have the title. Some states require a safety and emissions test also it would be good to have a tune up on the car.

1. call insurance co and get it insured

2. if it's from out of state take it to have it inspected and approved for licensing

3. take and get title transfer/license/registration

Call your insurance company and get your insurance started. Have them email you a proof of insurance.

Take that, the title of the car and a bill of sale to the DMV with some $$. You will apply for the new title, plate and registration there.

If the car you bought came from another state they may need to inspect it.

If you live somewhere there requires vehicle inspections or SMOG checks you will need to show proof they have been done.

does it have a service history? take it to a local garage and have it checked so you'll find out what problems it has. get them fixed and before you go on the road make sure you have insurance.
