I just bought a car that has a salvaged title

from a private party. it broke down in less then 30 days does any one now laws on buying a lemon

A used car can not, by definition, be a lemon.  Used cars are as is unless you have a written warranty.

That is no lemon, thats your fault. Used cars are sold in "as seen" condition.

Take it as a lesson- Next time have a mechanic look at it, and order a carfax report on it.

First it's not a lemon.  Lemon law only applies to new vehicles.

Second- A salvage title vehicle will NEVER be allowed to carry the lemon law.

Third. It's yours, all used vehicles are sold AS-IS unless the seller specified something different.  As-is    is regulated by the federal trade communication.

Lemon Laws do not apply to private party vehicle sales.

You can take the seller to small claims court, but you'll lose. You'd get into a "he-said, she-said" battle over whether or not they knowingly sold you a damaged vehicle. Without anything in writing, you're stuck.

depending on the repair cost i would either scrap it or not worry with second hand cars the term sold as seen is normally the case i bought my car for £50 it broke down in a week but after a new water pump, head gasket and some maintenance it runs great.

as to whether you have lost out depends on if you can do the work yourself or know some one who can.

the new lemon laws only apply to sales of new cars from dealers.

Used cars have no such warranties. If you have a written gurantee from a seller  then that is a different story,,be they private or otherwise.

A used car with a salvaged title cannot be considered a lemon. One would expect difficulties with a car like that. There is a legal definition of a lemon, and it pertains to new cars.
