I just bought a carseat off craigslist....?

The number we found on it was Baby Trend 6169, so from my research I think It is called a Baby Trend Latch-Loc 6169 and from what I see it was probabley available in 2003-2005....

Does anyone know if this is a good safe carseat? Our baby is due in December, and we found such a good deal on a bunch of baby stuff we couldnt pass it up... The carseat came with...

Any input would be great!

  1. I would not use a used carseat unless I trust the person completely with my child's life.  There is no way to know if it was used correctly, in an accident, cleaned inappropriately, etc.

    I would cut the harness straps, write do not use on the shell and throw it away.

    There are many great infant seats on the market.  Just make sure you get one with a front harness adjuster, 5 point harness and installs solidly in your vehicle.

  3. 1. Used carseats are always a bad idea because you never know what the the seat has been through.

    2. They recommend that carseats be replaced in 6 years but can go as long as 7 years.

    3. Your local fire department can inspect it free for you.
