Question:

I just bought a civic just thinking what the best setup would be for my sound system?

i am would like to buy type x splits for the front.. type r 6x9's for the back sbr type r 12" sub in the boot and m1000 amp... i just dont know if it's worth it.. i can do without the splits becuase they are a bit expensive and i am on a bit of a budget also any ideas welcome

  1. Sound stage wise, it's best to spend the money on the front components and skimp on the rear 6 x 9"'s if necessary.  After all, if you're planning on running a sub, your 6 x 9"'s will be mostly for rear fill anyways.  

    So I'd suggest sticking with the Type X components for the front.


  2. It's not worth it. I shake my mirrors and doors with $100 worth of speakers (4 polk dbs)

    I knew a guy who spent alot of time in shop class making tweeter enclosures and a sub box and he started wearing earplugs so he could use his system. I'm sure the bass was nice but one day you'll be crossing an intersection and you won't hear the ambulance flying through the red light doing 90 to save your grandma because you are wearing ear plugs or you need hearing aids.

    I don't have anything against people who do build ten thousand dollar or more audio systems but its not practical at all. Your alternator can only make so much power, the weight of the car goes up. In the end you get worse gas mileage, have to buy a better alternator so you can listen to your music with your headlights on, etc.
