I just bought a hd box but it does not work without an antenna, what kind of antenna do I need?

I don't have cable or satellite on that tv and I just want to watch local channels.

    Usually you need the same sort of antenna that would give you good analog TV reception.

    Analog and digital broadcasts use the same TV antennas, but what kind is best for you is very dependent on your local conditions. Things like zip code, distance to transmitters, and what's between you and the transmitters.


  2. HD box?   Do you mean to that you purchased a digital to analog converter box?  If so, right now you do not need it to receive local channels.  In Feb. 2009 you will need it.  If you are close enough to the stations a rabbit ear antenna may work for you.   If not you will need an outside antenna mounted on the roof.

  3. u need cable connection not a cable box ....antennas are whats going bye bye ...of course cable box comes with cable connection but hd box is pointless without antenna or cable
