  1. there are enzymes that can be added to aid in the breaking down process of the septic system. You simply flush them down the toilet once a week.

  2. THEY ARE  ALOT BRANDS OF ENZIMES

YOU CAN BUY ONE IS RID-X IT WONT STOP YOU FROM EVER HAVING TO PUMP IT BUT IT WILL PROLONG IT FOR YEARS.

  3. Nothing will completely eliminate the occasional pump out, but you can reduce the need by being careful about water usage and the kind of chemicals that you put down your drains.  DON'T use a lot of disinfectants!  The bacteria in the septic tank are your friends - keep them happy!

Get a front loading washer, too.  They use FAR less water.  Stabler or Whirlpool Duet.

  4. Yes and no.  I have a septic and use an additive monthly.  Rid-X is what I use.  One day, though, you will have to pump it out.

  5. I don't believe so.

There is a group of products that have beneficial bacteria in them to help break down paper and waste.

    Believe me they help!

But I still clean my septic yearly, and about every 5 years clean the pipe that runs to the septic.

In fact I just bought new property for rental income, and the first thing that happened was that the soil pipe exploded back into the house.

SO.keep it clean, and  do use the bacteria products.

Pumping yearly or bi-yearly depends on your personal usage.

  6. skeptic has the right answer!. just watch your water consumption and what you put down the drain, egg shells coffee grounds, grease etc.
