  1. Yess eventuallty it wil my babies wings got cut like 3 months ago and they are just about growing back.

It takes a while but  remember they do eventually grow back.

    good luck

  2. One wing?  Not both?  That's strange.  Not a very good sign.

I assume you are asking if the feathers will grow back.  They certainly should.  After all, if the feathers were clipped in an ordinary way, they were just made shorter, like a haircut.

But if only one wing was done, that makes me wonder why.  If it were me, I would be talking to the breeder I bought it from, wanting some pretty smart answers.  Well, actually, I wouldn't have purchased a bird from a breeder that inept.  This *was* purchased from a breeder, right?

If you bought this from some chucklehead who didn't know what he as doing, then all bets are off.  (With only one wing clipped, that would be my first suspicion.)  They might have clipped the wings so severely that the feathers are permanently damaged.

If there is any doubt, take it to the vet.  If you are new to owning a big bird (and I assume you are, since you asked this basic sort of question) then you better get used to taking your bird to the vet.

These are big, complex, expensive animals, and they cost money to maintain.  You wouldn't open the hood of an expensive sports car and just start turning bolts, you would take it to a certified mechanic.  Same deal.

  3. IS it fully clipped? and if it is i would get the other one done aswell so he is balanced out or it may feel hevier on one side. his feathers will grow back once he starts to molt and the ones that have been clipped will moult out and new ones will be in place the advantages to having him clipped is they cant gain height when flying so wont be able to get up high were you cant reach and he can get to no his new home without crash landing into things plus he will become more dependent on you to get him around down side is it such a beautifull thing to watch a parrot or any of our feathered friends do what they do best which is fly hope this helps but i would suggest getting his other one done so they grow out together an avian vet would clip them so there the same for you and there traind so they no were to cut so they dont accidently cut a blood feather these are the new ones growing threw remember its not permanent think of it as like having a feather cut lol it will always grow back

  4. I don't know why they only would have clipped one- but it will grow back, it usually takes about 6 months. And to the person who acted like you don't know about your bird (the same one who said these are big complex animals). Illiger's are mini macaws, so for him to give you advice about your bird is pretty funny. My dad has an Illiger's. Shes alot smaller than my eclectus's. She's super smart, she waves her wing and foot and yells "wave" when someone walks into the room. Her colors on her feathers are beautiful. She is a little over 8 years old. She is loud and messy, but she is definatley a cool bird. Good Luck with your new birdie- mini's are awesome!

  5. You should probably know more before you get a macaw...But yes, it will.

  6. Yes, the wing feathers will grow back.  It might take up to a year because molting season for my three is nearly done and the very last clipped feathers are coming out now.  I wonder why only one wing was clipped?  It is usually considered a bad practice to clip only one wing so you should go to your avian vet and ask for the second wing to be clipped as well.  If you are inexperienced with birds (and I assume you are due to the question) DO NOT attempt this yourself!  And don't go back to the person who did this in the first place, because although clipping wings is a typical practice, making a flighted bird off-balance by doing only one wing is poor grooming.  If possible, ask why the wing was done in the first place.  Definately get a relationship with an avian vet now while you do not need a vet.  Take your bird in for a well-baby check and make it a yearly thing.  Your vet will give you wonderful and practical advice on your bird.

Go to the library and read about your bird.  You have entered into a 50 year relationship with a bird.  The first months are critical for how the rest of your relationship goes and the more you know, the better prepared you will be for this relationship.

  7. Yes but it will take a while. dont let him fly untill they are grown in or he might hurt the feathers that are trying to come out. Food Luck
