I just bought a memory card for my camera and it's 1GB. How many pictures can I take?

A good piece of advice: don't format it! I did on my HP camera and it cut the 1 gig in half. Tech support said there was no way to restore it to the factory setting.

It depends on the megapixels you have.  How many does your camera have?  Also, it depends on the size of the photo.

For an 8 megapixel camera, the industry average is 290, although it's going to vary... depending on the file size (which depends on colors and detail) and if you use your camera at full resolution. The number of pictures it can hold depends on the size of the pictures. If you have a 7.2 mega pixel camera, then each picture will be about 3-4 MB. There are 1024 MB in 1 GB, so you should be able to hold at about 256 or more if it has less mega pixels. Determine the size of the pictures you are taking (right click the file and select properties), and divide 1024 by the number of megabytes (there are 1024 kilobytes in a megabyte).
