I just bought a microphone but it doesn't work. What seems to be the problem? ( details inside )?

I bought this logitech microphone,but for some reason it doesn't detect it. Any tips?

  1. there is nothing to detect its not like a mouse plug it into the sound card like your speakers if the input is turned on you can use it not its either defective or in wrong socket or sound card is in multi channel output turn it back to 2 channel for troubleshooting

    then go back to multichannel


  2. Couple of things to check in the sound properties (located in the control panel)

    You probably need to enable the 20db mic boost in order to power your microphone so that you can hear it. You can do this by clicking advanced under the mic (if it's not there click options up top and make sure advanced properties is checked) Once in there just put a check in the Microphone 20db boost.

    Also click options then properties and select recording, Put a check in the what you hear box (sometimes also called stereo mix) and then click ok, This should bring you to the recording controls. Now put a check in the what you hear box. What this will do is not only let you record your voice but also music for singing etc or you can just check the microphone box for just your voice.
