So, I just bought a michael amini eden collection dining room suite (link below) for $14000. I bought the china cabinet, 2 arm chairs, 6 single and table. Because it was so expensive I want it to look good so I only want to decorate it with with more modern and good looking decor I'm not shy at all so it can be vibrant and a showstopper i want it to be quite dramatic. I'm not using a tablecloth cause it has beautiful carvings and inlays that i want to show but I'm going to do everything else like table mats, table runner, centrepiece, napkins\napkin rings and other deco.

  1. that is just so beautiful i would just keep everything plain and simple a table runner would be great ,maybe pick the colours from your curtains for all accessories.

i think the furniture says it all it is classy eye catching so i would not cheapen it by making everything around it fussy.

enjoy it ps Hope you don't have kids lol lol lol

  2. This is a beautiful set!  You didn't say much about your dining ROOM, however.  Are the walls painted or papered?  What color(s)?  Is the floor hardwood, carpeted, tiled?  I wish I knew so I'd have a more thorough picture of what the space was like.

You mentioned you wanted to use modern, dramatic decor.  This is a very 'classical' ensemble, so I can't imagine it being well-suited with anything TOO modern.  You also mentioned using table mats, table runner, centerpiece, napkins/rings, etc.

My best advice is to keep it simple.  Fewer pieces ... but pieces that are very intentional in character.  That'll keep the space more in line with a modern look.

For example, I wouldn't bother using place mats or napkins/rings everyday.  It can give a cluttered look.  What I suggest is getting an extra long table runner (something that isn't too thick) and 'swag' it around the centerpiece.  Use a large-scale floral arrangement for the center ... you may also want to use candlesticks in addition ... just swag the table runner around everything to make it "one."  Don't concern yourself with lining everything up straight down the middle of the table, either.  As long as the floral piece is centered, you can offset candlesticks but visually balance them with the use of the table runner.  (Play around with it ~ you'll see).

This floral arrangement is dramatic, but not ultra-modern:

Depending on the color scheme of your space, you may want to consider using other colors or even a more simple arrangement.

I wish I could give you a more detailed answer insofar as what colors to use.  Sometimes you can find a really nice wall art piece that's inspirational.  Again, the style of the furniture doesn't lend itself too well to modern art, but you might be able to use something like this, which is abstract, but use a formal carved frame:

With this piece, (if you loved it), you could use the hydrangea centerpiece with light green candles in crystal candlesticks.  You may want to try using a plum table swag/runner, too!

I hope this was helpful and not too wandering in tought.  Good luck!

  3. that is beautiful.  use gold and bright white

  4. This set is very ornate and detailed so you don't want anything to take away from that, but only to add.

Target online and in the stores have got some beautiful things that would go perfect with this set. Some of them are pricey and others are quite reasonable.

Vases with permanant magnolias or gardenias I saw on there would look gorgeous in the middle of the table or on the side table.

I would go with a light cloth placemat. Nothing heavy in wood or bright in colors. Go with neutral tones.

Candles are always beautiful. Candlestick holders that are antiqued and that may pick up some of the design on the table.

A large ceramic bowl filled with faux fruit. Target has fruit that I got that I had a guy come in and actually put it up to his mouth before I screamed it was fake-haha.

    Crystal items always look beautiful.

The ideas are endless. It is hard to know because you can't really see the furniture up close and I have no idea what your carpet, window treatments, the color of the walls or the rest of your decor.
