  1. maybe try putting him in another room where it is not noisy... and leave him be with his food....  could be just not used to the new environment.....

Does he look sick in anyway.... running at the nostrils, feathers falling out... sneezing etc etc

  2. ask the breeder/shop what kind of food he had befre; when you switch diets they tend to starve themselves also many will not stick their heads into hooded seed dishes; try putting seeds/ fruits/veggies in a cup at the bottom of the cage and put the millet ontop/beside the cup. you should have brought the p'let around 6weeks old when they are weaned that is when the strongly bond to the person they spend the most time with. hope i can help, if he sits on the bottom of the cage feathers fluffes his feathers and looks sick take him to the vet. continue giving millet

great site for bringing baby parrotlet home,

  3. my love birds did the same thing when i brought them home from the pet store. it took them 2 days to feel at home .Maybe hes just home sick.give him a day to see how he does.

  4. Well you said it had a cage mate? Birds are like humans when it comes to a bonded mate. Its like seeing your boyfriend taken away never knowing if your going to see him again, or where hes even going. This can make your bird very sad and even sick. Getting that other bird is the best way to get her out of this. Shes stressing out ALOT causing her to not eat. And stressed out birds are NOT GOOD. Not only can it be sad for them but stress can cause them to get sick and can even be fatal. Since your getting that other bird she should be back to normal in NO time! This happens alot with birds so its not just yours. Dont worry...she should be okay once the other bird arrives!

  5. is the seed your giving him the seed he is used to?? try feeding him a pellet food parrotlet are more of a pellet eating bird

  6. You may have already done this, but I would ask the pet shop/breeder what he ate before he came to you.  It does take time for birds to even try new fruits and veggies.  It really takes some patience.

Also she/he may not appreciate a new brand of seed. Our birds really go for the Eggcite brand of seed and seem to eat that more readily.

Buying the cage mate is a good idea.
