bearings should be cleaned whenever there are dirty whether its once a month or once a week. if ur wheels are slow, dont spin longer than 30 secs, or are loud then they should be cleaned. if you do not clean the bearings when they need to and keep skating them it can cause them to be permanitly damage and they will still suck no matter how clean they are
