hi. I had a 58 cm. cannondale CAAD4 from ebay and I thought it d be ok if I just have the stem replaced in order to ride nicely but now I m not sure if it better to just buy a new frame. new frame would cost me around 240 euro and I still dont know how much the old frame would cost here in Austria. I think the weight would be almost the same. ~1400 g.

The guy who sold me the bike just had wheels, seat and handle bar replaced.

btw, I m 175 cm tall and just made a stupid mistake.

  1. this really depends on your physical attributes. You are roughly 5'7" i am estimating....I am 5'6" and ride a 54 cm, i am also 140 pounds, so keep weight in mind also when you are buying a bike in the future. It will help u determine what type of stem you should use, because heavy riders should be concious of a brittle stem. You defintely need a new frame, and i imagine that the components such as the stem and handlebars are size appropriate for the frame, so you should just return the bike. I do not know if this is your first purchase for a road bike or not, but in the future if you have questions be sure to know which ones are important to know before buying a bike

  2. See how a shorter stem and lowering the saddle does for you.

  3. Get a new bike, period. Sell the other one. A bike that does'nt fit will be no fun.
