I just bought a scooter ¿Is this normal?

It's a Honda Wave 100, I start it off normally (keys, turn to on, make sure it's on neutral, yellow botton, rumm rumm, first gear and go) but the speedometer and the counter never move.

I'll post any additional details. I'm hoping it's not a malfunction and that I'm just a dumbass. Thanks

  1. make sure the speedometer cable is fully threaded on and then check to make sure your guages work.

  2. if its a malfunction and you didnt break it yourself you might be able to sue the people who sold it to you. or you could get it fixed for free: ]

  3. cute picture. lol.

  4. broken speedo cable, 5 dollar part

  5. If I understand your question right... I don't believe you to be dumb. Sounds like your cable to the speedometer is unhooked or broken... check it and make sure. I sell scooters and have had this happen before.

  6. Had an old Yahama that had that problem what it was is there was a magnet that was mounted inside of the front rim that had something to do with the speedometer.

  7. it's the cable...leave it broken and you have a scooter that never tells how much it's been ridden...fix it and you'll know how fast your going (kind of important)

  8. No, have it serviced it may just be a relay but it may be more serious

  9. It is a malfunction.... get it looked at.

  10. yea probably its cuz its new

  11. You should name it Sasha

  12. It's a simple problem with your speedometer. There could be something clogging the sensor, or however it reads speed. You could also just buy a new one and switch it out. But if your trying to fix it. Just take it out

  13. It could be a broken cable.  If you're able to track that down, it'd be a pretty easy fix I would think.

  14. if it's new, have the dealer look at it.

and i believe it's completely normal to want to save money on gas and such.

  15. Not normal, you obviously have defective gauges.

  16. Some thing is wrong and I am sure your Honda dealer will fix it for you right away.

  17. its the cable or sensor  they test them at the factory and alot of them are loose best to have dealer check it  or if its a short it can cause fire but that is probly not the case

  18. it should work if you have it check the connections

  19. Sorry to say.But, yea,it's a malfunction.

  20. Absolutely, I always used to ride my scooter. My speedometer never worked either, but hey, who cares? You're having fun, right?
