  1. gap wedge. 52 degrees. It is the club lofted lower that the sand wedge but higher than the P Wedge. My favorite wedge. I have the TM RAc MB 52 though. I hit it after every good drive.

  2. gap wedge

  3. A high-lofted club used for precision shots to the green. In a set of irons with graduated lofts, the gap wedge would be considered one club shorter than a pitching wedge and one club longer than a sand wedge.

Some manufacturers refer to this club as an attack wedge, dual wedge or an approach wedge. So you'll see it designated with a "G", "A", or "D".

  4. G stands for gap wedge.  Other manufacturers may label this A.  Not sure what this stands for, but it's the same purpose, a go to club between your pitching wedge and your sand wedge.

Typically regular lofted pitching wedge has 47 degree of loft.  And sand wedge has 56 degree of loft.  That's a 9 degrees gap between the PW and SW.  To bridge it the GW or AW  is set at 51 or 52 degrees.

If your set does not come with GW, then you can buy these separately.  Frequent golfers carry multiple wedges in their bag.  I carry four wedges: PW, GW, SW and LW.

  5. It is called the Gap wedge.   It's called that name because it's used to fill the gap of distance between pitching wedge (PW) and your Sand wedge (SW).  The loft is between 50-52 degree.

It's very useful when you are not comfortable hitting Sand Wedge for short distance shots (less than 80 yards?).
