I just bought a skateboard I'm 16...How should I start by teaching myslef how to sk8?

I don't wanna learn how to do tricks just to ride it around and stuff lol...

I know 16 is a lil late but in the situation im forced in for the rest of the summer I g2 do something...

-Find what stance you like ( try running and jumping on a skateboard somewhere staionary and whatever way you jump on it thats your stance)

-If you just wanna cruise try loseing your trucks

-Try going down hills and stuff and also find smooth concrete for a good cruise like a basketball or tennis court but you might get kicked off (I learned the hard way)

-NEVER SKATE AROUND OLD PEOPLE

-watch some good vdeos to.

If you don't want to learn tricks then you just need to find a flat piece of concrete(like a old parking lot or a garage)and just practice rolling around but first you need to find what stance you are ,to do that you need to find a ball and stand with your feet side by side and kick it and whichever foot you kick the ball with is the foot you will push with(or your back foot).if you have any questions email me at [e-mail]

first find out what your riding stance is

see if your goofy (right foot forward) or regular (left foot forward)

once you figure that out just find a flat surface to practice riding on till you get the hang of it and can control the board

and i don't recommended listening to an iPod while attempting to ride because you will most likely fall and damage it when you do
