  1. Check the Voice you're using for the TomTom.  It has to be a synthesized voice, which means it'll have "female computer" or "male computer" on the upper right hand of the display when you're selecting the voice.

    You can select other voices (for example I have John Cleese) but these other voices can't read street names.

    If you don't have a "computer" voice installed, you can download and install one using TomTom HOME on your desktop (it's on the CD ROM you got with the TomTom).
