  1. If you have cable or satellite it does not matter.

    Basically the analog tv signals are going digital. The people affected by this are those who do not have cable or satellite and get their channels via air / or the old fashioned attenna.

    Once, again if you have cable or satellite - it does not matter. Both of these devices have a built in digital tuner that takes care of all that for you.

    If you have an older type of tv / or purchased one that does not have the digital tuner then you need to purchase or check with your television station and they can tell you where you can get one for a low cost / some states are subsidizing them for those within their states.


  2. If you didn't buy old stock, then yes it does.  New TVs are required by law to be able to receive digital channels.  If your TV was old stock, by law it is supposed to labeled as not being able to receive digital.
