I just bought an aspire

Question

i just bought an aspire one laptop but despite the fact that i have an internet connection my IE browser is not working; neither is my firefox which i installed later. All settings are consistent with my other laptop which works fine. my network connection are solid and my wi fi light is on.why aren't my browsers working?
