  1. I would strongly suggest not trying to use glue or adheasive to attach speaker wire to a wall.  I have heard of horror stories with wire coming off the wall several days after being put up and the adheasive/glue destroying the carpet.

For a nice look, my first recomendation would be to use in-wall speaker wire. If you rent or you don't want to put a hole in your wall and fish wire through it (I didn't want to in my house), I recommend using normal wire and buying plastic coverings (known as Wire Raceways) for it that can be painted and stuck to the wall.  You can find and buy these at a local Home Depot in the section where they sell wire and electrical stuff.  Unfortunatelly, Home Depot does not sell them online, so you have to go to a store.  Here is a link so that you know what I am talking about (I wouldn't buy from the link though as they are a little high--just the only examples I have seen online)

Flat Speaker wire does work very well at being placed underneath carpet though.

----I do agree with the guy above that using speaker stands is a best case situation.  But if you are like me (I have limited floor space and pets which would knock over speaker stands), you may need to mount your rear speakers.

  2. Hold on 'thar Bubba Louis are the speakers mounted on the wall? Take them down because they have more efficiency if placed away from the wall. In that case it doesn't matter what the wire looks like because it's in the speaker stands and goes across the floor. Of course you have to get wire heavy enough to handle your amp's output regardless of shape. Also make sure the speakers can handle the amp. In brief, the heavier-Gage the wire, the more watts it will handle. Then you can use Duct Tape if you don't give a chronos about your decore.

  3. If you feel you have to attach your flat speaker wire to the wall, I would recommend that you use double sided tape, usually referred to as carpet tape. this will attach the two together securely without showing anything if you trim the tape.
