I just bought glofish but i cannot find the right bulb to make their color brighter?

the petstore tod me that i need an actinic bulb, but i only have a 2.5 gallon tank. the bulb size that i need is 15 watts which i had no problem finding in actinic lights, but the problem is that it has to be a smaller

bulb than 18" i measured my bulb myself and it was only about 5" long. does anyone know where i can find a bulb that is 15 watt, 120v, is about 5" long, and is actinic?

  1. Before you worry about lighting, you should be concerned that your fish is in a very poor home.  Glofish are schooling fish, so large groups (5+) are absolutely necessary.  On top of that, they're VERY active, and in such a small tank, they will quickly damage themselves-- get a 10+ gallon tank and 4-5 more Glofish.  THEN you can worry about the lighting.  The chances of you finding an actinic light for such a small tank are almost nonexistant, but there are plenty of 18" actinics, which are just the size you need to fit into the 10 gallon tank I suggested.


  2. glo fish need a school of six or more you cant just have one and the minimum tank size for 6 is 12 gallons

    they also need heaters and filters unless you bought the coldwater type
