Yeah, if you want to pit, turn off unlimited fuel and tires and set the race length to at least 8%.  4% is too short. Unless you crash or blow a tire, you won't have to pit.

Ah, my favorite thing is to decrease the amount of Downforce.

That increases top speed (without decreasing acceleration) and it also loosens up the car.  That's good for speed, but if you make the car tooooo loose, you can always add some weight to the tires to tighten it back up (without changing any of the other stats).

i've had trouble to, go into car setup on the menu when you've chosen your race and you can pick to race, qualify, etc. and try to change some things around. for me the best way to make the car turn better is spring adjustments and wedge. for speed i always try to drop a little psi out of the front tires to lower the front end for more forward bite. and you adjust the ride height of the car in certain areas. for yellow flags, when your pickin your track hit the race details button (for 360 its x) and you can pick what lenght, damage settings, flags, etc. there. when you go in to the race or start a season it asks you if you want unlimited tires and fuel put it on off and you will have to pit. I usually use the wedge to make my car turn better put the wedge in negative.

It sounds like you are trying to steer with the gas/brake control, and trying to gas it with the steering control. Turn the controller upside down and you should be good. lol
