I just bought the same brand of paint i was using for the decking i was painting yesterday, but...?

Stir it up.

Go back to the store and have them put in their machine that shakes paint up. All the color in the stain has settled to the bottom of the can; same thing happens with paint.

Stirring it yourself is usually not recommended on a new can of stain or paint or if the product has been sitting unused for a long period of time because you wont be able to mix it thoroughly enough, you will notice the color will be different..

I'm adding this after I saw your additional comment:

Could someone have used it ; brought it back full of water passing it off as unused/unopened?? Regardless your going to have to take it back to the store..

Close it tight shake it then get a old long brush and mix it making sure u pull it up from the bottom

Sounds to me like some dishonest person bought the stain, used it and then replaced the used stain with water before returning it to the store for a refund!
