I just bought this new homelite trimmer and edger , i forgot to check if it a cordless one but it turned out?

that i actually need an electric cord to use it, it has an external male cord. do 18 volts batteries fit on that thing, if yes could someone tell me what kind, or is there a universal 18 volts battery.

It sounds like you need to plug it into a wall outlet.  If the connectors are the normal 2 parallel blades like on any power cord, you need to get an extension cord and run the trimmer from an outlet in your house.
