should i be concerned with the broken wrist? will i be fine? I also purchased a waterproof cast that goes on top of the cast so i can swim, and is much easier to take showers with. I'll have a week before i go, will my wrist be strong enough to do even the little things like hold a fork, or tie shoes, or button up shirt etc...The doctor said it was two clean breaks that should heal in 6 weeks... any help would be appreciated.. thanks.

  1. I'm sorry to hear that you broke your wrist, i do it all the time.  The doctors say it will take "6 weeks to heal".  They mean it might take up to six weeks to be 100% again.  You'll be fine for your trip. You should be able to do almost  everything again within the next couple of days.

  2. you are gonna be fine.  you will have blast in cancun, it's awesome.

just take the precautions (water, etc) with the cast and stop worrying.

take stuff you don't need to iron, low maintenance things and you will be fine.  all the food is prepared, the staff is amazing, so if you need a waiter to help you in the buffet line, it's no big whup.  keep plenty of singles $ for tips and make sure you tip a little more than if you didn't have a busted arm.

you are gonna have a great time.  as far as swimming, you will be surprised at how little time you spend swimming cause there is so many other things to do.  swimming in cancun is actually boring since there are so many other amazing things going on.  i got in the water maybe twice in ten days....

    have fun!

  3. You'll be fine, just baby the wrist from any sports or rough use. You can also ask your Dr. what he suggests about the wrist and your vacation, swimming, etc. Light things like tying your shoes, buttoning the shirt, holding a fork or knife, etc. will be ok and you should be able to do within reason. It might be awkward, but certainly not impossible.

My concern would be getting the cast wet, so test this supposed water proof cast out in your tub before you take off on vacation. Remember just baby it, but don't stop using it completely. You don't want the bones or ligaments to start setting up (getting stiff).

  4. Well if its the hand you write with its a problem in general. I wouldnt worry about it too much its just an arm. Nothing like a head or leg where you cant move. Then that would be a problem. Sorry to hear that. What difference would it make it you were at home? :P eggs

  5. These are questions your doctor will know since he/she knows the specifics of your injury. Perhaps there are some activities like tying shoes that you should avoid. I'm not a  doctor but I'd guess lifting a heavy suitcase is a no-go.
