  1. 5 week old kittens can eat solid food now, simply open a fresh can of soft cat food and open her mouth and put some food in it, then show her where it is until she understands what is going on. 5 week old kittens are very smart and will be able to go potty in the litter box as well if shown to it or placed in it.

  2. you are supposed to start weaning  the kitten off formula between the ages of 4-6 weeks old.  offering every two hours a mixture of supplemental formula and wet kitten food warmed you can also use dry kitten food soaked in warm formula.   Gently place the kitten's paw or mouth in the bowl so the kitten can taste the food.  ( do not drown the kitten)  if the kitten does not eat the food give the bottle every 6 hours.   I'm not for sure if you know what kind of formula to use if you haven't been.  on the packed here it says to use. nurturall, kmr, eukanuba, esbelac.   I am currently bottle feeding 3 week old kittens.  I hope this helps you.

    good luck.

  3. At 5 weeks the kitten would almost be ready to be come off the mother anyway and it will eat, just start out on something soft and a little running so that it can l**k it up - I have used that infant baby cereal mixed with warm milk on kittens who I was winning off their mother's milk. If that doesn't prove to be effective then put your finger in the soft mix and touch it to his mouth and instinct will tell it to l**k and in a few tries it will pick up eating on it's own, it may take a day or 2 but that little fella will get hungry and it's instinct will tell him to l**k and it's eating will increase slowly. Be patient with it as it is learning and away from it's mama all at the same time.

  4. She should have been left with her mother at least until 6 weeks, preferably 8 weeks old.

Get kitten milk and a nursing bottle from the pet store and use that to feed her. Contact your vet to find out exactly how long and how much to give her. Also to get pointers on how and when to wean her to kitten food, though generally you start them on wet canned food or dry kitten food that's been moistened to mush. BUT DON'T START HER ON KITTEN FOOD TOO EARLY! She's still just a baby!

  5. You can get milk that is specially formulated for cats in the cat food section, so get that for her.  Don't ever give her cow's milk.  It will make her sick.  Cats are lactose intolerant.

Why did you take her so early?  I think 6 weeks is too early and much prefer to wait until the kitten is about 12 weeks old before taking from its mother.
