  1. The US doesn't have a VAT like many countries do.  You pay a sales tax in many states, but that isn't refundable.


  2. You "claim tax back" by filing a tax return.  Form 1040-A, most likely.  If there was more tax withheld, that you actually owed for the money earned, then you get the difference refunded to you.

    www.irs.gov  has all the forms you need.
