  1. Measuring is an inexact science and in my experience has led women to have unneccesary induced labor and/or c-sections.

Figure out when your last period was. Two weeks after that approx, you became pregnant Docs often count from last period for convenience's sake.

  2. I measured to big and had to have an ultrasound, everything was fine. The tape measure on the belly thing is not a science.

  3. Ok...And your question is....?

  4. Do you mean that she measured you with the tape measure? Or she calculated the time of your conception? If you mean the time of your conception they are usually pretty accurate these days at pinpointing the exact day, but some doctors may not have the latest technology and will tell you to allow up to 2 weeks before or after. Or maybe your baby is just small. If you calculate from 2 weeks after your last actual period, that's usually the time for ovulation. Or you could calculate it from your first missed period. That's where the 2 week "grace period" comes from, so to speak. Otherwise maybe the baby wasn't conceived when you thought it was, but if that's humanly impossible then it has to be the Dr.'s error.

  5. when i went to the dr the first time with my baby (my 3rd pregnancy) i measured bigger 14 wks when i was 12. the next month i was on target. but i had gained alot of weight right before i got pregnant so maybe that was why? have you lost alot of weight? and the measuring isnt alway correct.  if your ultrasound comes back a-ok everything should be fine.  i hope it all goes well.

  6. i wouldn't worry, i am 25 weeks (and being of the larger build show 29 weeks) when they measured me last time i had an antenatal check but having a scan at 28 weeks.

  7. when i was 28 weeks i was measuring 30 weeks so i had to have an ultra sound done to check her size at that time she had just had a growth spurt and ever since then i have been right on with my measurements. in your case the baby may be a little small for her age but i wouldn't get to worked up about it because the baby will probably have a growth spurt and catch back up to your measurements.

  8. I have measured all over the board with my daughter. First I measured big then small then ultrasound showed the baby was big for gestational age every time I get measured I measure different. The last time I was in the Doc told me I was small and the baby probably wouldn't even be seven pounds. I am almost six feet tall and they say that height and body size can cause inaccuracies and every time I am measured by a different doc I get a different measurement. I would not put too much stock into the measurement unless your Doc does and they will send you in for further testing. Good Luck.

  9. It's not uncommon to measure 2cm over or under your estimated gestation, especially depending on how the baby is laying.  Hopefully the ultrasound will put you at ease!

    Good luck!

  10. well all the other answers most ppl were measuring too big and that dont seem as bad as measuring small does it?? well dont worry when i was 39 1/2 weeks i measured at 36 1/2 weeks!! thats 4 weeks off had an u/s and the baby measured at 36 1/2 weeks but they said he was healthy and he wsa just a small baby i had him and he weighed 6 lbs and 5 oz and was healthy as can be!! i was induced at 39 1/2 weeks b/c o my asthma!! maybe your baby will be a little small. you and your baby will be just fine good luck!!!!!!!

  11. Measuring is always wrong for dating as the baby continually moves and shifts positioning. The ultrasound will most likely give you an even different answer and will most likely be wrong as well if you are using the ultrasound for gestational dating.

The only correct way to provide gestational aging is to take the first day of your last period and count forward 42 weeks if you are a first-time mother. This will give you an estimated due date. No one can tell the size or weight of your baby in the womb. Best wishes, G
