  1. First - release it right back where you found it.

It is prohibited by federal law to remove a native animal from its natural habitat.

Second - Horny Toad or Horned Lizards are extremely difficult to keep in captivity.  They almost ALWAYS die.  Their diet is very specialized.

I know you think it's cute, but do the right thing.  The poor animal is terrified.  Put it back where you found it.

  2. Did you catch a toad, or an actual horned lizard (aka horny toad)? Most species of horned lizards are federally protected and you have probably committed a federal crime just by picking it up. They are ant eaters and do poorly in captivity.

  3. Don't catch animals, for starters. Especially if you know nothing about them. If you want a pet you should do some research, get everything set up and then go buy the pet. People catching animals out of the wild is what causes endangered species. Trust me, there are plenty of horny toads, lizards, and turtles in pet stores that NEED to be purchased and taken to a good caring loving home. Pet store employees usually only get a basic knowledge of the critters they work with.

  4. Put it back, if you dont know anything about it it is going to die, it will live longer in the wild

  5. My advice to you is to PUT IT BACK!  If you want to know more about that particular toad, look it up.  If you want a toad as a pet, get one at a pet store or from a breeder.  The more you take your natural wildlife out of its habitat, the more you are endangering it's species as it cannot breed.

  6. YOUR BREAKING THE LAW ITS A PROTECTED SPECIES PUT IT BACK

    its also cruel and immoral

personally i hope your found out and fined (fines start at $1000 and go up to $100,000) wild caught lizards never do well in captivity and many die or have stress related disease or behavior disorders

u want a pet do the research and get one from the pet store

  7. I believe they're Federally protected and illegal to collect from the wild. You should let it go and in the future, when you think you want to get a "pet" do the research FIRST.

  8. sweetie you need to put it back, they are a protected species, i live in britain and my mother in law got two of them from a reptile store she was told they were easy to keep, but after doing lots of research i found out they were very hard to keep in captivity, they will only live for about a year and are on of the hardest lizards to keep, they don't like to be handled  and only tolerate people for food, if you keep this wonderful lizard it will more than likely die, ours died with in 3 months of having them and we researched and followed instructions from a horned lizard keeper in america (we live in Britain), put the lizard back where you got it from it will be the best for the lizard
