  1. Crazy mom gave you the right procedure. But "Invitation" is slow. You have to open a second browser with the list of people you want to invite and enter them individually. So save that for friends you already have.

A faster way to grow your group is to join similar groups and post promotional messages there. The typical Yahoo Groups member belongs to 10-20 groups, so you aren't "stealing" members. I belong to 115, because I'm an owner who likes to co-promote. It's almost as much fun helping other groups grow as growing your own.

For a first contact promo, start with a compliment to the Group owner, then give a mission statement and link for your group. If the group has open links, post a permanent link. If it doesn't write the Group owner and ask them to do it for you.

You'll see your membership rise pretty quickly.

  2. How do I invite members to my group?

if no one liked the Related Groups at the bottom of every group post, I'd bet few group owners will allow spamming of other groups to theirs no matter how much you butter them up. if it's a closed group, buttering wont work in other groups anyway. also, I have never had to open a 2nd browser to invite people. the issue with invites is some mail providers see them as spam and the intended person never get's them.

if the group is not a closed/ invite only group, the best way is to send the URL of the group to people and they can join via the blue tab on the upper right Join This Group.

other than that, new groups never grow over night. it takes time.
