I just graduated this past May and I am now trying to look into developing my career. At the present moment, I have been working as a sales representative while attending school (so I could pay for school), and I don't have any official psychology oriented experience, except customer service, sales, and school projects (i.e., research, and so forth). I want to move on with my life and start getting my foot in the door. What freaks me out is that according to some of my psychology professors, I can't DO ANYTHING until I get my master's degree. Well, I want to start working now, but what can I do? Someone suggested that I go to hospitals and volunteer or try to get a job, could I also try doctors' offices (psychologists' offices)? How do I go about doing this? Just show up and say to the professional, "Hi, I am so-so and I would like a job...?"

  1. Working and dealing with people is experience. Volunteer your services in some area of the age or field that you want to work in. Set your time time limits and if you can run specific programmes before you move on to try something new. It helps bump up your experiences, references and contacts.

  2. Whew!  You got your answer from the people around you!  You NEED to accept that and get into graduate school and get into a specialty!  You'll find what you really relate to best THERE!!  It's well worth the investment!!!!

    Been there!
