I have had pets that didn't work out, but now parents are giving away three of my pets. And I really want them to get me a hamster, but they say flat out no, and I don't know how to get them to change their minds.

  1. Why are they giving away three of your pets? Are you not taking care of them properly? Are you not training them? If you're already getting three of your pets given away, don't get another. What makes you think they won't give away your hamster if you get one? It's probably just not a good time for you to add another pet to your household when you can't keep a stable home for the pets you already have. I would recommend you wait a little while. Then, ask yourself if you're responsible enough to handle a hamster and if you have the time to care for one. If you decide you can, show your parents you're responsible and do lots of research.

  2. Please, you are wasting your points asking questions that could easily be researched on Google or hamster websites. Seriously, think before you ask. Can you research this question or waste 4 or so points asking something pointless?

  3. Okay, if giving the pets away to better homes that they deserve than great. Yes, just stick with a hamster tell them you want nothing more. But that means NO more pets except the hamster.

  4. tell them you need the responsibility of having a pet in order to become independent and successful later

  5. You should prove to your parents that you are responsible enough to get a hamster. I had a hamster and she was soooo cute and nice but she died. Are you ready to have a hamster, do you think you are responsible enough if you do hamster are the best you should try to convince your parent until they give up!!(thats what i did and it worked!)

    hopes it works!!

  6. Let me make this clear.

Animals are NOT objects. Objects you can play with as long as you want, and then get rid of with no problem. You CANNOT just take pets one day, then give them away the next, and then get some more when you feel like it. They are a COMMITMENT. Once you adopt an animal, you are saying that "I will take care of it, and give it the best care I can give for as long as it needs me". They become a tope priority, and you need to make sacrifices for them. They didn't ask to live with you after all! You chose them, so you are responsible for them.

If your parents are giving AWAY 3 pets, how does it make sense to you that you can and should get more pets? What is the reason your other pets are being given away? Are you not taking care of them? Do you not know how to? How can you assume you'll take any better care of a hamster? Wouldn't it just "not work out" with a hamster as you other pets?

I do not wish to be rude, but you sound very self-concerned, and not thinking at all about the welfare of your pets. Very selfish. And that is not a trait any good pet owner would have. I know I would only aquire  new pet if my existing ones are taken care of as much as they need, and have no further needs or problems.

If you want anything, you should first learn to improve the lives of your other 3 pets, or at least one of them. After you can take care of one, and show to your parents that you improved, then get a hamster.
