i currently do not have my guitar, my grandma has it so im just trying to study this, but i dont get it.

That may be one of those crappy songs that has one strum, lots of words, one strum.  But more than likely that is telling you the key to sing the song in and has nothing whatsoever to do with playing the guitar.  

You'd need to get the sheet music for guitar in order to know what notes to hit when.  Guitar music (like piano music) will have each note on there whether it's a whole note or a quarter note.  The words will be written under the note.  Not merely a key to sing it in.

Playing guitar and reading/singing verses have nothing to do with each other.  You need to get a real music copy or a recording to make it function.
