  1. Alright, its pretty simple.

    My friend has 5 rats

which is pretty close to mice

shes had them for about months

and 2 of them are still very shy.

you have to pick him up

whether he likes it or not

    because he has to learn

    and get used to you.

    cleaning the cage;

pick him up and put him in a big area/like a bathtub

and get someone else in the house

to watch it as you clean the cage.

Dont worry, she'll like you and

    wont be shy anymore

    sooner or later.

    good luck!

  2. I agree you may have to let your hand sit in the cage a minute or so so your mouse can gain your trust a little bit. However after that give it your all and pick up your mouse fast but gently!

  3. okay eventually you're going to have to pick him up whether he likes it or not.....hes a mouse.

  4. a mouse isn't a good pet for that reason, they do not like to be touched or messed with, they are very skittish and fearful and bite when scared. They are a lot different than a hamster or guinea pig that are less likely to bite when picked up. Also you seem scared of the mouse because it has bitten you.

Really the best thing to do would catch it in a smaller box or a cup or something that it can't jump out of to clean the cage and after that is done I would find a different pet.

  5. pick him up with a wash rag or a dish towel.  That way he cant really bite you hard.  He is going to have to learn to be handled, or he is going to end up getting sick and dying because you can't clean his bedding.  He will probably be pissed, but they usually just get over it and may even learn to like it.

also, you need to have someplace safe to put him while your cleaning up after him.  Petsmart sells small "travel" containers.  They are plastic with a vented plastic lid.  They are perfect. (they are also good for various other little critters too).
