  1. im a ps3 fan

but im not gonan sit here bashing the 360

the 360 has good graphics yes

but like gears of war 2 is like as high as they can go

the 360 has practically used its full capacity

but the ps3 is just getting warmed up

most of the games for both of the consoles have almost the same graphics

so like next year the ps3's graphics will be like WHOOA!

where xbox 360 will still have the same

    same concept for the games

aweosme games are coming out exclusivley for ps3

  2. Xbox 360 is better thats all there is to it

  3. While Sony would have you believe that Blu-Ray is "required" for HD games, the reality is, storage size doesn't have a lot to do with the quality of the graphics.

Almost all 360 and PS3 games are only in 720p, which is about 4x the resolution over non-HD.  Even so, this doesn't mean that the graphics need to be 4x in size, mind you.  There are also some tricks programmers can use, like compression and in-engine cutscene rendering, which allow you to save space.  If you've played the Half Life games, you've seen an example of in-engine cutscenes.  This means instead of using a pre-recorded video file, the game uses its normal graphics and a "movie script" to basically perform the cutscene for you "live."

Even then, the vast majority of games from the PS2 and Xbox era, were only 2-3 GB in size.  So, even if the graphics were 4 times as large, you would still be able to squeeze a game onto a single DVD most of the time.

So far, that's been the case.  If you look at the size of 360 games and most of them are 6-7 GB in size.  The only games that haven't been able to fit onto a single disc have been a handful of RPGs, which use pre-recorded videos for their cutscenes.  Of course, multi-disc RPGs have been around since RPGs first started showing up on CDs way back with the Sega-CD, not to mention throughout the PS1 era.

Even if you look at the PS3's exclusive games, they're still about 7-8GB in size.  The developers then copy the game several times on the disc which is a technique used to reduce how long it takes the disc drive to find the next file to read - something that's necessary since the blu-ray drive in the PS3 is actually slower than the DVD drive in the 360.  This is also why the PS3 requires you to install games, sometimes several gigabytes worth, onto your hard drive.

So in conclusion, blu-ray has so far proven to be NOT a factor in gaming this generation.
