  1. If you are in the delayed entry program, despite what the recruiter tells you, you can back out anytime before you ship date.  they will be mad, and say that you can't try to enlist again, but they are full of it.  don't worry about delaying, just go back to the recruiters when you feel like joining.

  2. Given the immediacy of your report date, It is very unlikely to defer your Basic Training and Advance Individual Training for a year ... you are simply deferring the conflict until this time next year when you have to leave school during your sophomore year to attend training.

My recommendation is to defer your Nurse program until your return from Basic Training and AIT; this would allow you to keep any incentive bonuses you have coming due...a large majority of nursing programs will defer your admissions /acceptance for a year due to military obligation (or simply start the program in January when you return from AIT).

Once on campus, find the Army ROTC department and ask them about Army Nurse scholarships or the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) for currently serving reservists ... participating in either program will garner a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant upon graduation from your Nurse bachelor's program.

  3. How would a year help ?

To be a military nurse, you need a BSN 4 year degree.

  4. ARMY RESERVED?!?!?!?! Y WOULD U DO THAT!?!?!?!? MARINES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SEMPER FI!!!

  5. NO! Go ahead with your BCT & AIT, then start Nursing School when you get back!
