    Take the advice of what everyone always teaches in grade schoool w/ eating before swimming:  Don't do a ride less than 30 min's after eating.  If you are anything like me, I feel tired, sluggish, and the quality of my ride suffers if I go out to soon after eating a medium or large size meal.  The more you eat, simply push that time back even farther.  Another solution is that if you do go out fairly soon, alternate your ride to an easier one.  Don't try to go burn up the road with a "time trial" style ride or feel like your gonna go climb like 20 miles of nothing but hills.  Hands down  - you will retch.

    Earlier this year I went out for a Mtn bike ride less than 15 min's after a decently large dinner and I got the worst case of cramps that doubled me over.  I was in serious pain and had to walk my bike home about 2 miles cause I absolutely could not pedal I hurt so bad.  I don't eat that much before a ride anymore.  

    Most important thing I can stress is that you know yourself and how you recover more than anyone else here.  Just use some common sense.  Remember how your body's reacted and recovered after other rides you've done and only push it, and your limits, at the correct times.  If you have eaten fairly large meals before and have not had this happen, that this is an abnormality, then there is something else there that you will have to figure out.  I'd still bet that it was too much intensity thou...

    Consider my answer this way.  Feeling like retching, hurling, blowing chunks, whatever the term will be, this is your body telling you it is not gonna cooperate and is honestly revolting at what you just made it do.
