I just found a baby cockroach and I am freaking out!?

I am a very clean person. I mop my floors at least once a week with bleach, I sweep regularly, I vacuum at least once a week, I am clean. Tonight I was sweeping under the fridge and discovered what I thought might be a baby cockroach. I am mortified! I did some research (after killing it and putting it into a ziploc bag) and found that it is indeed a cockroach! I am upset because I know the stereotype, or stigma, of people who have cockroaches. I am not this person!

Is it possible that I could have only had that one cockroach? Could it have come in with food I had purchased from the store, fruit stand, etc? And if I do indeed have a cockroach problem, what do I do?

  1. i think it could have come in, easily. If you are that worried about it you could have the house fumigated and that would get rid of any pests.

  2. buy bug spray

  3. Having a cockroach doesn't mean that you are a dirty filthy person... It happens and can be easily fixed.. .FIRST go through your pantry cupboards and look at your dry goods... Repackage ANYTHING- that's in cardboard boxes (roaches feed on the goods and the glue on the boxes..)  Seal foods in glass or plastic containers... Vacuum cabinet and wipe out any crumbs!

There's a spray called ORTHOMAX HOME DEFENSE available at any hardware store or garden store.. It comes by the gallon and it's own sprayer... You spray it INSIDE/OUTSIDE.. It leaves no residue or smells.... Spray along foundation, behind appliances, and baseboards, windows/doors.. And spray along the OUTSIDE foundation of the house.. This spray works for all sorts of other pests as well.. Like spiders, ants, silverfish, ladybugs,  etc... It's also guaranteed for 6 months!  It works very, very well....

You can also make your own roach baits... Take BORAX available in the laundry isle and mix it with CRISCO veggie shortening until it forms a paste.... Put it on pieces of cardboard and place behind appliances and inside cupboards.. The roaches eat it and die!  Just keep away from children and pets...

Move your fridge and other appliances and vacuum under them...

    Good luck.....
