i did a little bit of research and it says one dollar on it, has a flying fish on it and says '2000' on the back (or front?)

but when i looked they only made the flying fish until 1986.

does that mean the coin is fake? can anyone else help me find some info and background on this coin?

Thank you!

  1. I live in barbados and that is a barbados dollar.

  2. Actually the Barbados $1 does still have the Flying Fish. Barbados is ofcourse "The land of the Flying Fish"

The official Central Bank of Barbados (CBB) website has more info about Barbados' currency.

    http://www.centralbank.org.bb/

The info on the dollar can be found on the bottom of this page.

  3. I was out in Barbados last year and all the $1 coins had the flying fish on them. Just checked the coins that I brought back as change and I have 1998 and 2000 coins, both with a flying fish on. The coin is genuine.

  4. your coin is a real i am in UK currency its only worth about 50p

and there are real fish in Barbados that do fly.they fly out of the water a skim across the water, like if you were to skim a stone across,i called my husband a lair when he told me to look for flying fish when we were in Barbados,if i hadn't of saw them with my own eyes i wouldn't have believed him,so yes its all true
