I just found a very large yellow spider leg floating in my coco pops.

To make matters worse, I was just about finished my bowl. At first glance it looked like a thin chicken bone, but as I looked nearer I noticed it was a large spider leg complete with thin hairs and a big bulb at the end. I passed it to my husband before running to the toilet to try and be sick.. Now hes gone and lost it and I have searched the whole house, I will look afresh in the morning.

It didnt look like a UK spider.. and I may have ate another piece without realising. The fact it had a bulb too makes me think it may have had poison in it (yes I know I am fearing the worse) I have emailed Kelloggs and hopefully will get a reply in the morning. Without the leg as evidence though I have no proof.. Apart from a stomach ache.

What are your thoughts??

  1. Well, good for you, you just good some more protein in your breakfast

  2. The stomach ache is likely a result of your stress over the leg, which very well could belong to another insect such as a cricket or a praying mantis or a number of other things.  The poison will not be active if the insect has died and the poison sacks aren't stored near the legs if memory serves.  It's just disgusting, not dangerous.  Forget about it and you will be happy you did.

Also, something fun to look up is how many spiders the average person inadvertently eats per year or per lifetime.  It's...interesting.  :)

  3. That is gross, and i would have done the exact same thing.....!!

  4. eeeeeeeeewwww!!!!!!!!

  5. If it was radioactive, you may have superpowers now. Otherwise you can just write to Kellogg's and complain and they will send you coupons.

  6. Protein with your sugar.  It's a bonus.

  7. I doupt you ate the thing but .......yea,ewwww.I'd make myself puke just to get it all out!

  8. my thoughts are that is gross.

  9. If you are really worried and live in the UK phone the NHS direct and ask for the poisons hotline.

It could be nothing, but give them a call anyway.

  10. ewww, lol. that sucks. i guess there's nothing you can do about it. if you're not throwing up by now or having seziours then you're fine just be careful next time. :) lol

  11. That is just gross.  In the future keep your cereal a plastic container.

  12. very large yellow spider leg means poisonous web spider.

  13. It could be one of these:

If I were you, I would keep the spider leg (if you haven't already thrown it out...), put it in a ziploc bag, and freeze it. You probably should have included a picture of the leg in the letter (unless you already have). That frozen leg is sort of just evidence. If your really concerned then you should take yourself (AND the spider leg) to your doctor and ask them about it.

  14. ewwww complain but the thing is they will say sorry and give you like a year supply of cocopops and you dont want that after whats just happend. something like that happend to my cousin in another cereal it had a fly stuck on it an they said we will give you a year supply of it they didnt want it ofcourse

  15. I think this is nasty... I would call kellog and cuss them out hahaha

  16. check to see where the cereal was boxed and where it was mfg. It could have come from the states, or it could have come from there. In the states, we do have big spiders! Usually you would be the one being eaten! Just trying to cheer you up! I ate ants by accident one time..... Very sour! YUCK!!!!!!

  17. Find the leg: with a little Tabasco sauce and a few beer chasers you will forget about the whole incident in a little while.

    nah, just kidding.

    Don't worry about it.

ALL food has a little something in it, it is unavoidable. Hopefully you can find whatever is in the food before you eat it. Look at it as a treasure hunt.

  18. eww. u could sue them.

but just think no more cocopops!!

  19. omg, thats terrible

  20. I won't be eating any Kellogg's cereal for a very long time.

  21. Save him in a ziplock bag and call Kellogs. You might need him as proof that he was in your box, and plus they can test him to see if he has anything in his system to prove he came in the box. And hopefully you don't get sick but you would need him if a doctor needed to know how better to treat you.
