I just got a Dalmatian dwarf hamster. I know there are different kinds of dwarf hamsters like Campbell, Chinese, and Roborovski dwarf hamsters. I was just wondering what kind a Dalmatian dwarf hamster is. Is he under a breed like Russians and Winter Whites are under the same breed... I think, correct me if I wrong please. I'd just like to know what breed he is. Thank You.

  1. Campbell's - they're the only ones that come in a "dalmation" pattern.

As for the poster who suggested it's a Syrian, it's very easy to tell the difference between a dwarf and a Syrian. By "dalmation," I'm assuming it's a dark-colored mottled Campbell's.

  3. Hi.

It seems that the people from pet shops don't know the hamster breeds. There is no such thing as Dalmatian dwarf hamster. In fact it is a  Black Dominant Spot Syrian Hamster. It looks like a tiny rabbit and is very cute. But it's not a dwarf hamster.

Depending on your hamster age, their size at adult age is:

    -Dwarf Campbell's Russian Hamsters :4 inches (10 cm)-adult age average 4-5 weeks

-Roborovski Hamsters :couple of inches (4-5 cm)-adult age average 4-5 weeks

    -Syrian hamsters 6-7 inches (15-17 cm)-adult age 5 weeks

-Dwarf Winter White Russian Hamsters 3.5 - 4 inches (8-10 cm)-adult age average 4-5 weeks

Good luck and have fun with your new hammy!
